At-Home Craft: Make Your Own Violin

It’s craft time! Join Sarah from the Seattle Symphony’s Education & Community Engagement team as she shows you how to make your own violin.

What you’ll need

Paper Plate (Don’t have a plate? You could also use a Tupperware container or an empty tissue box)
4 rubber bands
Coloring supplies
A popsicle stick or ruler
Tape
Scissors

Steps to make your instrument

Cut four notches at the top of the plate, and four notches at the bottom of your plate
Color your plate
Tape the popsicle stick to the back of the plate so it peeks out over one set of notches like the neck of a violin
Stretch each rubber band from a top notch down to a matching bottom notch to create a line across your paper plate
Play your violin’s strings with your fingers!
