At-Home Craft: Make Your Own Practice Bassoon

It’s craft time! Join Amy from the Seattle Symphony’s Education & Community Engagement team as she shows you how to make your own practice bassoon.

What you’ll need

Bassoon fingering chart template
3–4 toilet paper tubes or 1 paper towel tube and 1 toilet paper tube
Scissors
Tape
Pipe cleaner
Markers

Steps to make your instrument

Print out bassoon fingering chart template
Connect the toilet paper tubes together by folding in the bottom edge of one tube until it will fit inside the next
Cut your bassoon fingering chart in half along the vertical line
Tape the front (F) around connected tubes then tape the back (B) on the opposite side of your tubes
Tape or stick your pipe cleaner to the top of your bassoon
Color the keys and practice your bassoon fingerings
