From the yearning first movement to the joyful finale, her influence can be heard throughout as the piano and orchestra dance together in a tightly woven choreography. Composed as a tribute to her mother, Anna Clyne's Within Her Arms is a somber, deeply felt meditation on life and loss for string orchestra. Mendelssohn’s Third Symphony revisits the awe he felt as a young man in Edinburgh, beholding the ruined castle of Mary, Queen of Scots.
